Hey everyone…this is the start of something new for Fanshawe College and I'm glad to be a part of it. My name is Abby Oldfield and I am a student ambassador at Fanshawe for the summer. In September I will be returning to my second year of the Marketing program. It's been a lot of fun working here so far, doing odd jobs and giving tours of the campus to new students starting in the fall. You can check out some photos of the tour groups and read about their experiences and if you're looking at Fanshawe as a possible candidate for your future, I encourage you to come out and meet us. London is a great city. There is always something to keep you busy and the people around here are fabulous.

Abby with a prospective student Today started out well.I had a drop-in tour - mother and son-who were very nice and had many questions. It's always good to ask questions when you're starting out in a new place. They were both excited to come to Fanshawe. Well, I think the mother was more excited than the son, but it's always good to be enthusiastic about a big change like College. I took them up to the Construction/Technology wing and they really enjoyed seeing where he was going to be in class and all of the hands-on equipment Fanshawe has to offer.I think they were really impressed with Fanshawe and I am happy I could help ease the transition.

Abby (centre) with prospective student and his dad Friday, July 27, 2007.It's Friday! I had a great tour today. A father and son came in and were very nice. They were from Cambridge, not too far from my hometown of Brantford. The son was going into General Arts and Science, but he really wanted to pursue Music Industry Arts. He didn't want to waste any time getting started at college and decided it would be a foot in the door if he enrolled into the General Arts and Science program. I tried to do that at Sheridan College, taking the Animal Care program hoping I could get into the Veterinarian Technician program while bypassing a chemistry credit. But that didn't work out; I needed my chemistry because it was a prerequisite. So here I am at Fanshawe living in London with my sister. I still intend to pursue a career in animal care, but for right now I am happy where I am.,/p>
