Bachelor of Applied Technology(Biotechnology)

Stem cells, DNA, xenobiotics, molecular science… biotechnology is the future! And you can be a part of this explosive area of science with Fanshawe’s Bachelor of Applied Technology (Biotechnology) program. You’ll study molecular biology, microbiology, virology, toxicology; and related societal, economic, ethical, legal, and environmental issues. And you’ll develop skills in experimental design, statistical data analysis, bioinformatics and the handling of microbial, plant, and animal genetic material and proteins. Throughout the program there’s a strong focus on how biotechnology relates to regulatory affairs, quality assurance, bioethics, and biohazard management.

This is a four-year, eight-level program with co-op opportunities of four to eight months! When you graduate, you’ll be ready for to work in high growth areas of Applied Biotechnology such as medicine, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals, bioremediation, research and development, quality assurance and regulatory settings. This is applied degree program is the only one of its kind in Canada!
